The Story

Another establishment committed to nurturing the love of traditional dough snacks, Dough Culture urges you to indulge in life's simple pleasures with their traditional halal oriental snacks and join them in cultivating the love for them for generations to come.

Inspired by the hard work and determination of women in the past who would knead, roll and and fry up delicious dough snacks; and his heart for the community, Alex Ong, the founder, set out to automate a dough-making process. Alex embarked on a journey to different parts of Asia to meet with several dough leaders to master the art of traditional dough-making, only to return with greater zest and started experimenting and perfecting the process. Thus, Dough Culture was born!

There are no available seatings at Dough Culture but it didn't really bother me because the snacks available were perfect to hold and have on the go. Dough snacks were neatly displayed in a glass cabinet and the decor of the booth really tied in with the traditional vibe they were going for.

Dough Culture has a wide selection of dough snacks, ranging from savoury to sweet. It seems that they have not let themselves remain stagnant and have gone on to produce interesting variations of traditional snacks such as Youtiao with Mayonnaise and Cheese. The crispy Youtiao paired with the familiar and beloved combination of Mayo and Cheese seemed so right but it was funny how it never occurred to me to try out this combination before this.

Their dough snacks are often purchased by the locals to have for breakfast and paired with coffee, tea or milk. Their Youtiao can be dipped into their beverage where the airy and crispy dough snack will absorb the goodness only to explode in your mouth.

They also have snacks such as the Butterfly Bun, Peanut Sesame Balls, Carrot Cake and many more! All their snacks are perfect for any time of the day, be it a hearty breakfast, satisfying tea break or a sinful supper treat.
